Katie Reilly is a reporter in New York City, where she has covered national news and education issues for Reuters and TIME magazine, including a recent cover story on how the pandemic disrupted many students' path to college, leading to steep enrollment declines. 

 

She previously covered state politics for the Raleigh News & Observer and social trends for Pew Research Center.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in English and political science and learned to love journalism as managing editor of the Daily Tar Heel.
